How to save money on Ink Cartridges.

by Alex Nolan

Running a Ink jet printer can be as expensive as running a car. If your not careful the cost of ink can be comparable to the cost of petrol. Here are a few tips on ways in which you can  save money on Ink Cartridges.

First of all when purchasing a printer be sure to check the cost of the cartridges the printer uses. Some printers are very cheap to buy but the cartridges are almost the same cost as the printer. Canon printers however have much cheaper cartridges. Another good point about Canon printers is that most top level models use individual primary colour cartridges. This is more cost effective as you replace each colour as and when they run out.

Another way to save ink is to use the Ink Saver software. Once installed it allows you to control the amount of ink the printer puts on the page. If you are printing a lot of pages of text that do not require the boldest print you can turn the ink level down to a more draft setting. This can make cartridges last up to three times longer.

Ink Saver

When your cartridge has run out you can save money by refilling the cartridge yourself with refill kits.

Ink Refill

Cartridge refilling is not usually for the faint of heart, involving endless faffing around and inevitably inky fingers. Well, that was until Inke came up with this strange looking contraption. It's rather unimaginatively called Inkjet Auto Refill System and it does exactly what it says on the tin. In with the cartridge, in with the refill tank and five minutes later the job's done, without mess. You don't even have to invasive surgery on your cartridge. Not only is this really clever, it's also environmentally friendly and dead cheap too.
